That’s a very broad question. Electronic items go down in price with age, which is certainly the case for the PS3. It has already gone down in price on numerous occasions, due to cheaper models and cheaper components. Any subsequent price drops will come eventually, but it’s hard to put a date on it, as Sony will look at the market as a whole and take into account how much the Wii and Xbox360 are selling for.
Laptops on the other hand are very different. They vary greatly in price according to the spec that you need. Also new technology will cost more when it first comes out, and will decline in value as even newer technology is released. A top of the range laptop costing £1500, will eventually only be worth £1000 a few months later. But obviously a newer, high spec laptop will be out to fill the £1500 price mark.
the trend to lower pricing is usual counteracted by including additional features. for example who would buy a PC now with CGA graphics, no sound card, no internet, 640k ram and 40 MB hard drive? But if you could get such an item, it would certainly cost a tiny fraction of the original price.
