It depends on how your laptop is getting internet access.
If your laptop is accessing the internet using Wi-Fi (wireless internet) then all you need to do is buy a wireless card or USB stick and plug it into your desktop. Then your desktop can connect to this wireless connection and access the internet.
I imagine this would do it for you…unless your laptop is getting the internet from a cell phone, or something like that. If you provide more details I can try to help you more.

Run a wire from the wireless router to the desktop network adapter and
Click Start/ Connect to/ show all connections/ left click local area connection/ properties/ configure
